A new year heralds a whole new calendar of local events. One of the biggest events on that calendar is the 22nd annual legendary Boonville Beer Festival. To be held Saturday, April 28th 2018 at the Medicino County Fairgrounds.
One of the premier beer festivals on the West Coast. Hosted by the Anderson Valley Brewing Company since 1997. The festival showcases 80 breweries from across North America. With around 250 different beers there is plenty to choose from.
The festival has been growing from year to year and today includes live music performances on multiple stages along with locally sourced food and produce.
The proceeds of the festival are donated to charities in the local area and to date has raised well in excess of one million dollars.
Enjoy a fun whale watching experience at the annual Mendocino Whale Festival.
Every year the gray whale migrates from Alaska to the tropical coastal waters around Baja, Mexico. On their journey the gray whales swim right past the Mendocino coast. This gives tourists and locasl a spectacular opportunity to see these giants, diving, spouting and breaching as they make their lumbering dance towards Mexico. There are numerous high vantage spots dotted along the coast that provide great places to spot whales. On calm mornings especially.
Timed to coincide with this majestic natural migration is the whale watching festival. Enjoy some fine wine and craft beers while you sit and wait for mother nature to unfold.
There are also plenty of accredited whale watching guided tours. Quality local arts and crafts will also be on display around the village. Don't forget to do a lighthouse tour. The view is spectacular. The competition to decide who makes the best "chowder" will be hotly contested by local chefs.
